As a volunteer for Scarborough Cycles, a program of Access Alliance Multicultural Health Centre, I am responsible for improving daily operations of the Bike Hub, conducting analyses of participant data of programs, and aiding in the planning and facilitation of community programs. Additionally, on occasion I create social media content. With strong communication, customer service, organization, and critical thinking skills I am able to effectively work in this fast-paced, collaborative environment to maximize the reach and success of programs that promote inclusive cycling culture and achieving good physical and mental health with dignity.
During my student placement, I supported daily operations and seasonal programs such as Hijabs and Helmets, a program dedicated to cycling education for Muslim women, children, and allies, as an effort to create opportunities for socialization and empowerment. Through this program, I led groups of 5-10 youth through cycling exercises and short rides to encourage skill-building. Additionally, I evaluated their operations and how their internal and external environments impact their mission. A final report was produced which can be read below.
